When You Have a Dream and You Hold the Vision. You are Unstoppable!

If you haven’t heard yet, the Lady Panther 4x400m Relay team was unstoppable at the 2A State Championship meet, winning in dramatic fashion. Three Seniors (Maria Sgro, Hannah Angel and Dylan Garcia) capped their careers with the dream of being a State Champion. While their 4th teammate, Hope Smith added the title as only a Freshman. Hope showed she has a very bright future as a runner.
They arrived at the 2A State Championship ranked third overall in the 4x400m Relay and by the end, they left no doubt they are the best. Running a combined time of 4:09.39 and smashing their previous season best by 8 seconds. All three seniors ran personal best times.
When anchor leg Dylan Garcia recieved the baton, the team was in third place and trailing by almost 50 meters. Then Dylan did what seemed impossible. Chased down the leader by running a 58 second split that sealed the victory. In the final homestrech she had the entire stadium cheering for her and had Franklin in tears.
If you follow Franklin Track and Field, you know moments like these are rare. It was over 25 years ago when Chris Waters anchored his 4x400m relay team to a state championship in similar fashion.
These ladies can now hang their names on the FHS gymnasium wall as the first Women’s 4x400m Relay State Champions in school history. With a story that will echo through the generations of Franklin Track and Field.
Way to go Ladies!
